The Murraylands is home to a wide range of native Australian birds and provides some of the best bird watching opportunities in Australia.

John Endersby has been actively observing and monitoring bird population density and occurrence frequencies on a statistical basis for more than 30 years in the district, including extensive survey work on Moorunde Wildlife Reserve.
